Barrie Police received information from a concerned citizen regarding a female in an intoxicated state about to drive her car. This occurred in the area of Burton Avenue after 7pm. Investigating officer located the lone female driver who was sitting in the drivers seat with the car keys in hand. The officer immediately could smell a strong odour of alcohol present as well as slurred speech and unsteady on her feet. She was arrested for Impaired Care and Control. The 37 year old local woman was taken into custody and transported to the police station for the purpose of providing a sample of her breath to a qualified breath technician.
Further investigation revealed that this same woman was previously charged by our Service for Impaired Driving back in June 2013. She was held for a Bail Hearing on August 12th and following the breath samples provided, she was additionally charged with Drive Over .80. She will be in court in the morning in answer to the charge.
No one was injured during this incident.
