On Sunday the 4th of August 2013 at approximately 8:30PM, Police received numerous 911 calls from concerned motorists about a possible impaired driver in Barrie’s south end.
Officers responded and located the suspected impaired driver in his vehicle waiting in the drive through as a fast food restaurant. The male driver also had four children under the age of 11 with him in the vehicle. Officer determined that the male’s ability to drive was impaired by alcohol and placed him under arrest.
He was taken to the police station where he provided a breath sample that was three times the legal limit. The 43 year old Barrie man was charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80mgs of alcohol in his blood. He was held in custody until sober and then released with a future court date. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his licence was automatically suspended for 90 days. The four children were unharmed and turned over to a sober family member.
