At 02:10am officers conducting a R.I.D.E. check in the 700 block of 10th Street East observed a 2005 brown Kia attempt to evade the check point. The officers were able to catch up to the vehicle and stop it in the 1600 block of 4th Avenue East. The male driver subsequently failed a roadside test and was arrested for driving over 80 milligrams. The man was transported to the police station where he failed two breathalyzer tests. Further investigation revealed that the male driver was not properly licensed and that he had taken the vehicle without the owner’s consent.
The driver, a 23 year old Owen Sound man was charged with driving over 80 milligrams, take motor vehicle without consent and drive no licence. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Owen Sound Court on September 3rd.
