(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On September 10, 2017 at approximately 1:00 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrols and observed a motor vehicle and an ATV travelling Westbound through a field on the Eramosa-Erin Townline near Sideroad 10, Town of Erin.
A traffic stop was conducted on the motor vehicle and the ATV fled the scene. There were two passengers in the rear of the pick-up truck that fled on foot from police.
While speaking with the driver the officer observed signs of impairment by alcohol. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
29-year-old Shane Mitchel THOMPSON of Guelph-Eramosa has been charged with Over 80 and Drive Motor Vehicle while Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on October 20, 2017 to answer to the charge.
