(PERTH SOUTH, ON) – On Tuesday December 20, 2016, shortly after 5:00 p.m., members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to single motor vehicle collision on Highway 7, east of James Street South in the Township of Perth South.
Perth County OPP members located the driver of the grey Chrysler that had entered the ditch at this location. The officer noted while speaking to the driver the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and signs of impairment.
The driver was placed under arrest for operating motor vehicle while impaired. He was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville for breath tests. He later provided samples of his breath into an Intoxilizer and registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 41-year-old Chad LANG from Island Grove has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was also charged with driving while under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He was held in custody for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on December 21, 2016. He also received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the car was seized for 7 days.
