(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 67-year-old from Cambridge will have to attend court in Goderich later this summer following a traffic stop that took place on Huron Road earlier this week.
About 7:48 p.m. on August 1, 2017 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information about a Ford Expedition that was travelling westbound on Huron Road (Highway 8) toward Goderich in an erratic fashion.
A few minutes later Huron OPP stopped the suspect vehicle on Huron Road near Nairn Drive. While speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking some alcohol. A roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a Fail. The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver provided two samples of his breath to a qualified intoxilizer technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, Joao DACOSTA, 67 years of age from Cambridge has been charged with Drive Motor With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has been released from custody with a court date scheduled for September 11, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
