(HURON EAST, ON) – A 62-year-old from Seaforth is facing a criminal charge of Drive Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol following her arrest that took place over the weekend.
On Saturday, June 3, 2017 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received information about a possible impaired driver in Seaforth. Just before 5:30 p.m. a Huron OPP officer spotted the suspect vehicle, a Mercedes Smart car at the intersection of Chalk Street and Duke Street.
Upon stopping the vehicle and speaking with the female driver the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. As a result, a roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a Fail. The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. She later provided two samples of her breath to a qualified intoxilizer technician; both of her samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, the driver, Maura O’REILLY, 62 years of age from Huron East has been charged with Drive Motor With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. She has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for July 10, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. She has also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and her motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
