Drunk Driver Arrested In Exeter – Name Released

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 54-year-old from South Huron will have to attend court later this summer to face Impaired Driving charges following a traffic stop that took place on June 18, 2016. At 12:13 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to patrol for a possible impaired driver that was last seen leaving a gas bar located on Main Street North in Exeter.

Approximately 10 minutes later a Huron OPP officer was able to locate the suspect vehicle travelling southbound on Ausable Line near Huron Street West. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver of the GMC van was spoken to about his driving. Upon speaking with the male driver the investigating officer noted the male had been drinking alcohol and he was displaying several signs that his ability to drive was impaired by alcohol.

The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 54-year-old Douglas MARSHALL from South Huron been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on August 8, 2016. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
