Drunk Driver Arrested Following Collision – Name Released

(HOWICK, ON) – A 27-year-old from Palmerston is facing three charges following an impaired driving crash that took place this past weekend near Lakelet.

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County & Bruce County Paramedic Services along with the Minto Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle crash located at the intersection of Fordwich Line and Malcolm Line. Upon arrival at the crash scene police located both involved pickup trucks in the south ditch on Fordwich Line.

The subsequent investigation revealed the driver of a Ford F-150 was travelling southbound on Malcolm Line when the driver failed to yield to a GMC Sierra pickup truck that was travelling eastbound on Fordwich Line. The three occupants of the F-150 escaped injury however the driver of the Sierra was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Upon speaking with the driver of the Ford pickup the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol and was displaying signs that his ability to drive was impaired by alcohol. He was placed under arrest for impaired driving and was transported to the Walkerton OPP Detachment for breath tests. He later provided two breath samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, Devin DUNCAN, 27 years of age from Palmerston has been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Fail to Yield to Traffic on Through Highway. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 18, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and impounded.
