(NEYAASHIINIGMING FIRST NATION, ON) – On February 5, 2017 at 1:58 a.m., the Cape Croker Police Service with the assistance of the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Saugeen Shores Police Service, arrested and charged a driver for over 80 and impaired operation of a motor vehicle, on Prairie Road, Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation.
Cape Croker Police officers were conducting southbound patrol on Prairie Road when a northbound vehicle turned into the path of the police cruiser without warning. The actions of the driver caused police to brake abruptly in order to avoid a collision.
Once the vehicle was stopped, Police spoke to the drive and found they had been drinking alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to Saugeen Shores Police Service for breath tests in which they failed.
The driver, Stephanie ASHKEWE, age 34, from Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation has been charged with over 80 and impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Her driver’s license has been suspended and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.
She is scheduled to appear before the Owen Sound Court of Justice on February 23, 2017 to answer to the charges.
