On Saturday August 14 th , shortly after 6 pm Owen Sound Police were advised of a minor motor vehicle collision that had occurred in the 1100 block of 16 th Street East. The caller told police dispatch that the driver of the other vehicle involved had left the scene after a brief conversation with the caller. The caller advised that they believed the fleeing driver was under the influence of alcohol. The caller was able to provide a licence plate for the involved vehicle.
Police located the registered owner of the vehicle at his residence. Police conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of a 37 year old Owen Sound man for the offence of operating a motor vehicle while impaired. The male party was transported to Owen Sound Police Service where he provided breath samples 4 ½ times the legal limit.
The male’s driver licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days. The male will be appearing in court at the end of August to answer to the charges of operating a motor vehicle while impaired and operation of a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
