At 3:40pm emergency crews responded to an accident in the 400 block of 10th Street East. A pickup truck travelling eastbound 10th Street East lost control and left the roadway. The truck then struck a light standard and continued on and struck the front porch of a house.
Two passengers in the vehicle including a 4 year old child were transported to hospital by paramedics. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The driver of the pickup truck was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Owen Sound Police Station. His breath samples exceeded three times the legal limit
The pickup truck and light standard were destroyed. The front porch of the residence was structurally damaged. The exact dollar amount of the damages has not yet been determined.
A 51 year old Owen Sound man has been charged with two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, driving over 80 milligrams, failing to ensure a child is restrained in a child restraint system and driving without insurance. The man will appear in the Owen Sound Court on the 14th of May.
