Drunk Driver 3X Legal Limit

Last night at approximately 6:30 pm the accused a 38 year-old Chatham man was operating his vehicle along Elizabeth Street in Chatham. It was at this time he struck an unattended parked vehicle and then continued on with extensive damage to his vehicle. Police were notified immediately by vigilant citizens within the area who provided particulars in regards to the vehicle description and last seen direction of travel.

As a result of this information, police located the vehicle and accused moments later in the immediate area. While dealing with the accused police formed the opinion that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

He was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters where he provided a sample of his breath which was in excess of three times the legal limit. He was then charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and with Over 80 mgs. of Alcohol in his Blood. He was later released into a family members care on a Promise to appear with a future court date.
