Occurrence Type: Impaired Driving, Over 80 Mgs
Occurrence #: BA1500335
Date: Saturday, January 3, 2015 – 1:30am
On Saturday January 3, 2015 a Barrie Police officer on routine patrol observed a grey Toyota travelling westbound on Dunlop St travelling at a high rate of speed.
The officer followed the vehicle for a short period of time and observed the vehicle almost strike a curb and then almost hit the construction barriers along the Lakeshore.
Once the vehicle was stopped the investigating officer very quickly determined that the drivers ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by the amount of alcohol he had consumed and arrested the driver.
The driver was then transported to the station where he provided breath sampled to a qualified breath technician of over double the legal limit.
As a result the 40 year old male had his vehicle impounded, his licence suspended for 90 days and was released with a future court date.
