On February 1st at approximately 6:30 pm police stopped a motor vehicle in the area of Wellington St and Maple Ave after making an illegal lane change.
Upon speaking with the male driver the officer detected an odour of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. After a search of the vehicle the officer discovered a quantity of marijuana and cocaine. Also located and seized were a large quantity of Canadian currency and several drug paraphernalia items which would be consistent with the activity of drug sales.
The 25 year old driver of the vehicle is facing one count of possession of a controlled substance. He was operating the vehicle with a suspended licence to which he was also charged. The 24 year old passenger of the vehicle is also facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance and a second charge of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. They were both released with future court dates.
