Drowning Victim Located

(KINCARDINE, ON.) – Members of the Kincardine OPP have located the body of 16-year-old Oksana MILOVANOVIC on the shores of Kincardine beach, approximately one kilometre north of where she was last seen on the 16th of August, 2010. Officers operating A.T.V.’s located the victim this morning around 7:00 a.m.

MILOVANOVIC, a foreign exchange student from France, was swimming with other youth when she was reported to have gone under the water in heavy waves. Members of the OPP Marine Unit, Under Water Search and Rescue Unit, OPP Helicopter as well as detachment members on foot and A.T.V.’s had been actively searching for MILOVANOVIC since she went missing.

OPP have positively identified the victim as 16-year-old Oksana MILOVANOVIC from Vertou, France.

“While our thoughts are with the MILOVANOVIC family at this time, we can’t lose sight of the water safety lesson that comes with this tragedy – swimmers have to respect the power of the water. We don’t want any more lives lost in Ontario waterways,” South Bruce OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Bill KLYM.
