On Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 8:30 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a collision at the intersection of Charles Street East and Cedar Street South in Kitchener. The collision forced one of the vehicles to veer off the road and hit a nearby house, damaging the gas line and causing natural gas to leak into the neighbourhood. Police evacuated residents in the immediate area until the leak was contained and repairs were completed by Kitchener Utilities. Nearby roads were closed for a short time while police investigated and utility crews made the necessary repairs. Nearby residents were then allowed to return to their homes. There were minor injuries sustained from the collision, none of which required medical attention on scene. A 27-year-old Kitchener man has been charged for Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence and Disobey Stop Sign -Fail to Stop.
