(Guelph/Eramosa Twp, ON) – On Monday, January 7, 2012 at approximately 8:36 am Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call regarding a personal injury collision involving a car and a school bus with one person trapped.
Wellington County OPP officers attended the scene at County Road 7 just south of County Road 51 in Guelph/Eramosa Twp. along with Guelph-Wellington EMS and the Guelph-Eramosa Fire Department.
Investigation revealed that a school bus that was bound for Guelph and contained elementary school students was southbound on County Road 7 and had stopped to pick up some children when it was struck from behind by a 2011 Volkswagon Jetta. The school bus lights were activated at the time of the collision. The female driver of the Volkswagon had to be extricated from her vehicle and was subsequently transported to the Guelph General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
County Road 7 was shut down in that location for a short period of time and has since re-opened.
The investigation into this collision is still ongoing at this time.
