(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On December 23, 2016, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a motorist with drinking and driving offences after receiving reports of an erratic driver on Hwy. 10 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.
On December 23rd at approximately 2:29 p.m. and 2:33 p.m., Grey County OPP received reports of a Dodge Ram, pick-up truck being driven erratically northbound on Hwy. 10 between Dundalk and Flesherton. The suspect vehicle was last observed heading eastbound on Grey Rd. 4.
Police located and stopped the vehicle on Grey Rd. 4 east of Road 63 and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol and showed signs of impairment. He was arrested and transported to the Markdale OPP Detachment for breath tests which he failed. Test results indicated that the driver had nearly three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
Further investigation revealed that the accused has had three prior convictions for impaired driving related offences since 1988.
Carlos SOARES, age 58, of Georgetown, Ontario was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80 mg.
He is scheduled to attend court in Owen Sound on January 26, 2017.
