(WALKERTON, ON) – On August 7, 2012 at 6:56 pm, a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was stopped to make a turn along Durham Street East in Walkerton when the police cruiser was almost struck by a Blue Toyota pickup. The truck was stopped and the officer discovered some mechanical problems with the vehicle. 47 year old Phil MESSERSCHMIDT of Brant Township was charged with Operate unsafe vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in provincial court on September 4, 2012 to answer to the charge.
