Driver Busted Going 131 On Hwy 21

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A Sarnia resident has been charged with Racing following a traffic stop yesterday morning. Just after 8:00 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Lincoln Navigator travelling southbound on Bluewater Veterans Highway near Iron Springs Road at a high rate of speed. The officer confirmed his observations with a RADAR device and measured the speed of the vehicle at a rate of 131 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Upon stopping the vehicle the officer charged the 33-year-old Sarnia driver, Marcello SOLINAS with Race a Motor Vehicle. He has a scheduled court appearance on October 6, 2015 at Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich. His licence was suspended for a seven days and his rental vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Aggressive Drivers Please Note: In addition to the immediate driver’s licence suspension and impoundment, penalties include: Fines ranging from $2,000 to $10,000, 6 demerit points, up to 6 months in jail and up to a 2 year licence suspension for a first conviction.
