Driver Blows Warning Morning After Drinking Binge

(Innisfil, ON) On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, around 7:30 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Traffic Unit officer stopped a speeding car on 20th Sideroad in Lefroy. When the officer spoke to the driver, he noted the smell of alcohol. The man admitted to drinking 10 beers the previous evening. A roadside screening device test was conducted, and the man registered a WARN, indicating a blood alcohol concentration between 50 and 80 mgs. The 53 year old man’s driver’s licence was suspended for 3 days. He was also ticketed for the speeding offence.

South Simcoe Police remind drivers that only time will eliminate alcohol from your body. It can take up to 8 hours after consuming alcohol for it to be removed from your blood. We will continue our efforts to eliminate impaired driving in our communities. If you suspect an impaired driver, call 9-1-1.
