(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On December 15, 2016 at 8:39 p.m., Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a ride check on 6 Highway and Bruce Road 9, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.
Police observed the driver of a GMC Sierra pick-up truck, pull into a nearby gas bar and turned his vehicle around, to avoid the R.I.D.E. check. An officer departed the R.I.D.E. check and stopped the vehicle on Bruce Road 9, to speak to the driver. Police found the driver to have been drinking alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Bruce Peninsula OPP Detachment for further testing.
Jens RUPP, age 56, from Northern Bruce Peninsula, has been charged with impaired operation of motor vehicle, over 80 milligrams, drive while suspended, fail to surrender licence, fail to surrender permit, fail to have insurance card and plates not authorized for the vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear before the Owen Sound Court of Justice on January 5, 2017 to answer to the charges.
