Location: Mac’s Convenience Store – Erie Avenue
Incident: On July 4, 2015 shortly before 3:30 a.m. a delivery driver on the lot at Mac’s Convenience store called 9-1-1 to report almost being struck by a pellet fired from a gun. The victim a 49 year old man observed a small black vehicle with several youths in the car travelling south bound on Erie Avenue. One of the occupants from the vehicle shot towards the Mac’s Convenience store with at least one pellet striking the glass window at the store. The window was not damaged and no one was physically injured.
The vehicle did not stop and was last seen southbound on Erie Avenue and possibly turned left (eastbound) on Dorothy Street.
Type: Arson – Youths Arrested

Date: July 5, 2015
Location: Donegal Drive
Incident: On July 5, 2015 at 3:15 a.m. Brantford Fire contacted the BPS to assist at an arson call. The Brantford fire received a telephone call about a porta potty which had been set on fire and destroyed by fire. Two youths were nearby and speaking with Brantford Fire. Community Patrol Officers attended and spoke to two youths who at first told police that they just happened to come upon the fire and were placing branches on the fire to help distinguish it. The two youths later admitted to starting the fire. A third youth who had fled the area prior to police arriving was found hiding in a backyard belonging to one of the youths. Investigation revealed that two boys residing outside of Brantford aged 11 and 14 were having a sleep over at a third boys (aged 14 years) home in Brantford. The Brantford youth’s parent was home at the time of the incident, sleeping and unaware that the youths had snuck out of the home to commit the crime. All three youths were released and given referral to the St. Leonard’s Society Pre-charge Diversion Program in relation to Section 433(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada; Arson.
Type: Trespassing
Date: July 5 2015
Location: Brant Park, Jennings Road
Incident: On July 5, 2015 at around 2:30 a.m. employees from Brant Park security called the BPS for assistance with removing a man who was causing a disturbance at the park. Community Patrol Officers attended and arrested a 23 year old intoxicated Kitchener man who was being evicted by the park and refusing to leave. The accused was eventually released from custody charged with Fail to Leave premises when directed under the Trespass to Property Act.
Type: Break and Enter (Commercial)
Date: July 5, 2015
Location: Grey Street (100 block)
Incident: On July 5, 2015 shortly after 3:00 a.m. an alarm was activated at a business on Grey Street. Community Patrol Officers attended and found that a glass window insert on a door had been smashed out and entry had been gained. A Magnum mobility scooter grey and orange in colour was stolen from the business.
Type: Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Arrest
Date: July 5, 2015
Location: Icomm Drive and Dalhousie Street.
Incident: On July 5, 2015 at approximately 9:30 a.m. a Community Patrol Officer observed a 2006 Blue Dodge Caravan stopped at a red light at Icomm Drive and Dalhousie Street. The vehicle had been reported stolen from London, Ontario. The driver was arrested without incident for being in possession of the stolen vehicle. The accused was also in possession of a stolen personal cheque.
The accused was also arrested on the authority of a bench warrant issued by the courts for failing to attend court regarding previous charges of theft under $5,000.00 and Fraud Under $5,000.00.
The accused a 29 year old Brantford man is charged with Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000.00 X2 and Breach of Probation. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
