Drinking Driver With Open Alcohol Arrested In Central Huron – Name Released

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 65-year-old driver from Central Huron will be making a trip to court in March after he failed to provide a suitable roadside sample. At approximately 4:45 p.m. on January 13, 2017 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver that was last seen travelling southbound out of Goderich on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway.

Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle, a Ford Ranger pickup and a few minutes later a Huron OPP officer located the suspect vehicle travelling southbound on Porter’s Hill Line near Cut Line. A traffic stop was initiated and the officer spoke with the male driver.

While speaking with the driver the officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath thus a demand for the roadside screening test was given to the driver for the purposes of determining the concentration of alcohol in the driver’s body. The driver ultimately failed to provide a suitable sample of his breath for analysis.

As a result, 65-year-old Albert BRALL from Central Huron has been charged with Fail to Provide a Suitable Sample – Approved Screening Device and Having Open Alcohol in the Vehicle. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 6, 2017. He was also served with an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension.
