Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal two-car collision in the City of Markham.
On Monday, August 29, 2016, at approximately 9:40 a.m. uniform patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision on 16th Avenue, east of Bur Oak Avenue in the City of Markham. Officers arrived on scene to find a black Toyota Corolla and a black Infinity G35 had collided east of the intersection.
York Region Paramedic Services and Markham Fire assisted with extraction of the occupants. The female driver, 42, and the four-year-old female passenger in the Corolla, both of Markham, were transported to hospital.
Sadly, both the female driver and the child succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
The 28-year-old male driver of the Infinity and his female passenger, a five-and-a-half month-old female, were transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses to the collision and to the drivers’ behaviour leading up to the collision.
Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police are being asked to please come forward.
