Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit have laid Impaired Driving charges following a double fatal collision in the City of Markham.
On Monday, August 29, 2016, at approximately 9:40 a.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on 16th Avenue, east of Bur Oak Avenue. Officers arrived on scene to find a black Toyota Corolla and a black Infinity G35 had collided east of the intersection.
The 42-year-old female driver of the Toyota Corolla and her passenger, her four-year-old daughter, both from Markham, were transported to hospital.
Sadly, both the female driver and her daughter succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
The 28-year-old male driver of the Infinity and his passenger, his one-year-old daughter, were transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit have determined that alcohol was a contributing factor to the collision. On October 20, 2016, the accused was arrested and has since been charged.

Mr. SINGH is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on November 10, 2016.
