Double Drunk Derek – Court on Oct. 15, 2009

OVER 80 DRIVER STRIKES LAWN IN FRONT OF POLICE
On August 15, 2009 at approximately 11:00 pm a Huron OPP officer was on patrol in Belgrave. At that time, the officers’ attention was drawn to a black pick up truck that turned a corner rapidly in front of him. During this manoeuver, the driver drove his motor vehicle partially across a lawn.

The vehicle was stopped and upon approaching the driver, the officer could immediately detect the odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. The officer made a demand for the driver to supply a roadside sample of his breath and the driver did as directed. The driver registered a “Fail” on his test however and he was arrested. He was then taken to the Exeter Detachment where he met with a qualified Intoxilyzer Technician to provide two more samples of his breath. The results of the tests confirmed that the male had more than two times above the legal limit of alcohol in his system at the time of driving.

Derek Tout (22) of Howick has been charged with one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He will answer to his charge in Wingham Court on October 15, 2009. His drivers’ licence has been suspended for 90 days as per statute.
