(BRANT TWP, ON) – On September 27, 2012 at 8:16 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report that a Black Dodge Journey went past a school bus with the lights flashing and stop arm extended. The driver, 36 year old Dong LEE of Walkerton, was charged with Fail to stop for school bus. This offence carries a fine of $490 and 6 demerit points.
With full day kindergarten programs being offered, students as young as 4 years old can travel to and from school on a bus. These young students depend on adults to keep them safe. Failing to stop for a school bus carries a stiff penalty, but the consequences can be far greater if a small child is hit by a vehicle.
