(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A passenger that failed to wear his seat belt yesterday caught the eye of an alert Huron OPP officer on patrol. At 9:44 a.m. on October 2, 2012 a green Ford pickup truck was observed travelling northbound on London Road near Belfast Road. The officer noticed the passenger was not wearing his seat belt and a traffic stop was initiated.
After speaking with the two male occupants officers completed a search of the pickup truck. Officers located a baseball bat that had been modified for the purpose of being a weapon. Officers also located a quantity of illegal drugs inside the vehicle. Further checks on the driver revealed he was driving with a suspended licence and was currently on probation.
As a result of the investigation the passenger Donald McNALL, age 34, from Howick is charged with: Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 Criminal Code, Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to section 129 (a) Criminal Code, two counts of Possession of a Substance included in Schedule II contrary to section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Fail to Properly Wear Seat Belt contrary to S. 106 (3) (b) Highway Traffic Act. He has been released from custody with a court date set for November 22, 2012 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Wingham.
The driver, Guy MOORE, age 29, from London is charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 Criminal Code, two counts of Possession of a Substance included in Schedule II contrary to section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1 (1) Criminal Code and Drive While Under Suspension contrary to section 53 Highway Traffic Act. He is currently in custody.
