On the 19th of April 2014, a male and female resident of Barrie left their home in order to do some grocery shopping. While on route to the store the couple became engaged in a verbal argument that resulted in the male allegedly striking the female in the face with a closed fist. The two parties later returned to the residence. The male party later left the home.
On the 24th of April 2014, the female reported the incident to the police and officers subsequently issued a warrant for the male regarding an offence of assault. Attempts were made to locate the male with no success.
On the 28th of April 2014, the male attended the Barrie Police Service and turned himself in on the outstanding warrant of assault. The male was in turn arrested and held pending a bail hearing.
