The York Regional Police Traffic Enforcement Unit is seeking public assistance to identify the rider of a motorcycle after he was observed riding dangerously in the Town of Newmarket.
On Thursday, July 14, 2016, shortly before midnight, a motorcycle with two occupants was spotted by police driving at approximately 200 km/h on Mulcok Drive, west of Harry Walker Parkway. Police lost sight of the motorcycle as it turned south on Leslie Street and once again accelerated to a high rate of speed. The motorcycle was located as it was stopped at a red light on Ivsbridge Boulevard. When the rider noticed police he quickly accelerated north on Leslie Street and continued to travel at a high rate of speed east onto Mulock Drive, then south onto Highway 404 where police once again lost sight of the motorcycle.
Officers attended a nearby gas station located in the area of Mulock Drive and Harry Walker Parkway and determined that the driver of the motorcycle had been inside the gas station prior to his dangerous ride around Newmarket.
Investigators have isolated images of the suspect from video surveillance and are releasing pictures and requesting public assistance to identify the suspect.
