(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On January 29, 2018 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an attempted fraud at a TD Bank location on Geddes Street, Elora. At approximately 3:30 p.m. on January 24, 2018, an unknown male attempted to withdraw over $4,000 using a fraudulently obtained bank card. His attempt was unsuccessful.
Investigation revealed that the man had previously attended another bank in the area, provided a fake identification card and acquired a replacement bank card for a valid clients account.
OPP is asking the public for their assistance in identifying the suspect from the photo associated with the fake ID. (See attached photo) Eye witness reports estimate the suspect’s height as 178 cm (5’10).
