(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) The Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding all motorists to take an extra second to always ensure vehicle running lights are fully on during the prescribed periods required.
Many newer vehicles come with day-time headlight packages that are equipped with sensors that turn the full front and rear lighting packages on when lighting is insufficient.
Unfortunately other vehicles that come with running day-time headlight packages are not equipped with light sensors and do not automatically turn on the lighting for the vehicle during poor lighting or visibility. This still requires the driver of the vehicle to manually turn on the headlamps ensuring that both the front and rear tail lamps are illuminated.
The OPP reminds motorists that failing to have front and rear tail lamps illuminated during prescribed periods of time between dusk and dawn can result in a fine of $110.00. Worse yet, not having your front and rear lamps could result in a very serious collision, injury or death.
An indicator that your head lamps and tail lamps are not illuminated would be that the dashboard lights are not on either. This should serve as a very good reminder to drivers that your front and rear lamps are not illuminated.
Driving without tail lights is extremely dangerous and illegal. Do the bright thing and turn them on!
