Distracted Drinking Driver Gets 3 Day Suspension

(SOUTH RUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On January 2, 2018 Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle in Sauble Beach after observing the driver operating the vehicle with a wireless device in his hand. After speaking with the driver and detecting an odour of alcohol, police demanded a breath sample from the driver.

The 30-year-old male was charged with driving a motor vehicle on a highway while using a hand-held wireless communication device, Highway Traffic Act (HTA) 78.1(1). As well, the driver’s licence was suspended for 3 days after registering a warning on the road-side screening device.

Police are asking drivers to remember others on the road and Drive Safe, Drive Sober.
