Disqualified Drunk Driver Caught In Owen Sound

Just after 2 p.m. a concerned citizen at an Upper East Side business contacted police after suspecting a man who had been in the business was driving impaired. The vehicle was located by police at The Beer Store but was unoccupied. A short time later police were able to conduct a traffic stop on the Dodge Caravan which was operated by a 30yr old man who was driving with an open container of beer. The investigation revealed that his ability to drive was impaired by the consumption of alcohol and was taken into custody.

The male was found to be a Canada Wide Disqualified Driver for a previous conviction of driving over the legal limit and on this afternoon the driver blew more than twice the legal limit of 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.

The male also had four Driving Suspensions under the Highway Traffic Act.

The vehicle was towed and impounded for a period of 45 days.

Due to the quick actions of the concerned citizen this driver was safely stopped and taken off the busy roadway before there was a collision or anyone was injured.

The Owen Sound man will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 12th, 2016 to answer to the charges.
