Disqualified Driver Cuts Off Motorcyclist – Severe Head Trauma

On Sunday February 7, 2016, at approximately 1:05 pm, a van and a motor cycle were involved in a collision on Eagle Street North, in the city of Cambridge. The van and the motor cycle were driving the same way when the van turned into the path of the motor cycle making a prohibited left turn from the curb lane, cutting the motor cycle off. The motor cycle collided with the drivers door of the van causing serious head trauma to the 46 year old male driver of the motor cycle.

The driver of the motor cycle was taken to Cambridge Memorial Hospital where he was then transported by ground ambulance to Hamilton with a severe head trauma injury. He remains in critical but stable condition at this time. The 40 year old male driver of the van was arrested at the scene for Driving Disqualified. He was later released facing a total of three criminal charges in relation to the collision. He will appear in court on March 23, 2016. Police wish to remind all drivers that with the unseasonably warmer weather to please be on the lookout for motor cycles.
