(Innisfil, ON) On Saturday, March 4th, officers from the South Simcoe Police, Traffic & Marine Unit conducted R.I.D.E. checks at various locations in the Town of Innisfil.
In a twelve hour period from noon-hour until midnight, police stopped and checked 643 vehicles. Twenty-nine (29) drivers were asked to perform a roadside screening device test. As a result, nine (9) drivers had their driving privileges revoked for a minimum of three days after registering in the warn range on a roadside screening test. Two (2) drivers were arrested and charged for Driving Over 80 mgs. Two (2) other drivers were arrested for drug possession when police discovered a controlled substance inside their vehicle.
It is disappointing that so many suspensions were issued in a very short period of time” says Acting Sergeant Steve Black. “People are taking unnecessary risks”.
Drivers who register a blood-alcohol concentration in the “warn range” of .05 to .08 pose an immediate danger to themselves and other road users. If caught driving in the warn range
