Derrick Bakelaar – Racing Vehicle Impounded

(Bluewater, ON) On October 11, 2009 at approximately 10:00 am a Huron OPP officer was patrolling on Airport Line in Bluewater when he was approached by an oncoming northbound vehicle that appeared to be travelling at a high rate of speed. The radar was activated by the officer and the speed of the oncoming vehicle was confirmed to be in excess of 50 kph above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was stopped and as a result of the investigation the driver was charged with Racing. Derrick Bakelaar (43) of Bluewater will answer to his charge in Goderich Provincial Court on December 3, 2009. His licence was suspended for 7 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days as per statute.
