Daylight Break And Enters In South Huron

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members are seeking tips from the public to help solve two daytime break, enter and thefts that took place yesterday afternoon in South Huron.

The two homes, situated about a kilometre apart, were broken into sometime between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Investigators believe the suspects first attended a residence located on Kirkton Road whereupon they forced entry into the home through a basement door. Once inside the residence they ransacked the home. The thieves stole numerous items including jewelry, credit cards, a crossbow and three firearms.

The stolen firearms consisted of a Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun, a Remington .300 ultra-mag bolt action rifle and a .300 Army Addition” bolt action rifle. The thieves also stole a white 2007 Ford E-250 company van from the property.

The thieves drove a short distance away to a residence located on Grand Bend Line and forced entry into the residence. Once again they ransacked the home and stole numerous items.

The complete inventory of stolen items has yet to be established however the dollar value of the stolen goods is estimated to be in excess of $25
