(HURON EAST, ON) – A 20 year old male driver from Central Huron has been arrested and charged with Impaired Driving following an early morning traffic stop on October 27, 2013. Just before 1:00 a.m. A Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed the driver of a grey Volkswagen Jetta driving erratically on Huron Road. The driver braked heavily and aggressively turned onto Hensall Road travelling northbound.
A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle was stopped on Hensall Road north of Huron Road. Upon stopping the vehicle the police officer spoke with the driver and determined the driver had been drinking alcohol. The driver was displaying several signs of impairment. He was arrested for impaired driving and a search of the vehicle uncovered an open bottle of alcohol behind the driver’s seat. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. The driver provided two samples of his breath to the Breath Technician; Both tests were above the legal limit.
As a result, David ROBINSON, 20, from Central Huron, has been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Alcohol. He has a court date scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on November 25, 2013. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
