(MAPLETON TWP, ON) On Saturday March 30, 2013 at approximately 8:43 pm members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) West Region Highway Safety Division (HSD) were conducting R.I.D.E. checks on County Road 7 in Rothsay in Mapleton Twp. At this time and location officers investigated the driver of a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire that entered into the checkpoint. Police spoke to the drive and determined that he had been drinking. The driver was administered a Roadside Screening Device test which resulted in a fail.
Daniel Newman aged 51 of Kitchener has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on April 19, 2013 to answer to the charge.
