Daily News Release – Wednesday, May 6, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 102 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested and four were held for a bail hearing.

Man Arrested from CKPS Wanted List

On the morning of May 5, 2015. Chatham-Kent Police observed a Wanted male in in the area of Raleigh St, Chatham. He was lodged in cells, pending bail hearing.

21 year-old, Allan DEACON of Chatham, was put on the “CKPS Wanted List”, for several charges, including Failing to Appear for Court and Breach of Probation.

Mischief

On May 3, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police responded to a mischief complaint to a business on Grand Ave, Chatham. A male known to Police was observed on surveillance footage dumping diesel fuel all over the complainant’s property, after he was asked to leave the property earlier. When Police attempted to locate him at the address listed on his Recognizance (where he is currently under house arrest), he was not present. Reasonable and Probable Grounds were formed for Mischief and Breach of Recognizance.

On the afternoon of May 5, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police observed the male on a bicycle in Downtown Chatham and attempted to stop him. He fled on the bicycle, and officers flooded the area; he then ditched the bicycle and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, he was apprehended and taken into custody. After running the serial number on the bicycle, it was found that it was reported stolen by the owner on April 23, 2015.

The 51 year-old Chatham man was charged for two counts of Breaching his Recognizance, Mischief under $5000, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.

Break and Enter

On the evening of May 5, 2015, suspect(s) entered the side window to a residence on Park Ave E, Chatham. The suspect(s) stole a 40” flat screen TV and a laptop computer, totaling approximately $1300. They also cause $100 damage to the window.

CKPS officers will be at McDonald’s Restaurant locations in Chatham and Wallaceburg for a portion of the day to assist staff members and show our continued support. Please attend and help support some great charities.
