The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 82 calls for service in the past 24 hours. One person was arrested.

Students Win Essay Contest

The Chatham-Kent Police Service is pleased to announce the winners of their 2015 Police Week, “If I were Chief of Police …” essay contest.

The Honorary Chiefs of Police for the day on Thursday, May 14, 2015 will be:

Selena Wall – a grade five student at Dresden Area Central School and

Haley Mailloux – a grade five student at Ecole Elementaire Catholique St. Francis in Tilbury.

These students will meet with Chief Designate Gary Conn for a discussion on their winning essays. They will also participate in a tour of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters which will include the Emergency 911 Communications Centre and Forensic Identification Office as well as the Traffic Unit building.

Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK15013554

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for breaching his release conditions.

On April 10, 2015 the man was released from custody with several conditions, including a non-association clause with a specific Chatham man and condition not to attend a specific address on Merritt Avenue in Chatham.

Just before 1:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed the man on Merritt Avenue associating with the Chatham man.

The 27-year-old man from Chatham was charged with three counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Charged with Driving While Under Suspension CK15013605

Around 9:00 p.m. last night an officer on general patrol observed a woman driving her vehicle erratically in the area of Queen Street and Mill Street in Tilbury. The officer initiated a traffic stop and learned that the woman’s driving privileges were suspended due to unpaid fines.

The 24-year-old Romney Township woman was charged with driving while under suspension. She will be required to attend court on June 10, 2015 to answer to the charges.

Stolen Vehicle CK15013613

Sometime last night between 8:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a 2010 blue Hyundai Elantra bearing Ontario marker BSWV 946 from Hughes Street in Dresden.

Outreach for Hunger

The Chatham-Kent Police Service continues to accept donations to support the Outreach for Hunger food bank on Wellington Street East in Chatham. This food bank benefits many throughout Chatham-Kent who struggle daily with their family food needs. Anyone wishing to donate non-perishable food items may drop them off at any CKPS Service Centre across the Municipality during this month. Thank you for helping us make a difference in our community.
