Daily News Release – Wednesday, April 29, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 107 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.

Man Arrested from CKPS Wanted List CK15011966

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.

In March, the man was involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend. The man fled the residence prior to police arrival and a warrant was issued for his arrest for the offences of assault, assault with a weapon and failing to comply with his release conditions.

Around 5:30 a.m. this morning, officers located the man on Prince Street in Chatham. The 39-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK15011962

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for failing to comply with his release conditions.

Shortly after 3:00 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed the man on King Street East in Chatham. Through investigation, the officer learned that the man was currently bound by several conditions including a curfew.

Doug Couvillon, 40 years, of Adelaide Street North in Chatham has been charged with three counts of failing to comply. He was released pending a future court date of May 20, 2015.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to five motor vehicle collisions in Chatham.

No one was seriously injured and charges were laid in each crash.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind motorists to obey traffic lights, signs and all rules of the road.

Collisions are preventable.

Slow Down in Town

With sunshine comes an increase in children playing outside. In residential areas, please do not drive faster than the posted speed limit. In cities, towns and villages, the maximum speed limit is 50km/hr.

Motorists are reminded to use extra caution around school zones and playgrounds. Always drive at a speed that will allow you to stop safely.
