The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 129 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.

Man Arrested from CKPS Wanted List CK15012702

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.

In April 2015, a warrant was issued as the man breached conditions of his Probation Order.

Around 1:30 a.m. this morning, police located the man on King Street East in Chatham.

Aaron Bechard, 26 years, of Park Avenue West in Chatham was taken into custody and released with conditions pending a future court date of May 12, 2015.

Woman Charged with Being in Possession of Stolen Property CK15012670

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman following a theft complaint.

Last night around 8:00 p.m. a Chatham woman contacted police to report that her e-bike had been stolen. Through investigation, police located the vehicle on Park Street.

Tina Gardner-Wood, 32 years, of Park Street in Chatham has been charged with possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released with conditions pending a future court date of May 29, 2015.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK15012698

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a domestic related investigation.

In November 2014, the man entered into a Probation Order with a curfew condition and non-association clause. In April 2015, the man was released from custody with the same condition of not to communicate with a specific Chatham woman.

Last night around 11:00 p.m. the woman heard a knock at her door. As she looked out the window she observed the man. The man fled the scene prior to police arrival, however was located at a nearby variety store. The man ran from police but was taken into custody following a short foot pursuit. The 18-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply and two counts of breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and Enter CK15012579

Sometime between May 3, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. and May 4, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a fenced compound on Park Avenue East in Chatham, also known as the OSPCA Shelter.

Approximately $500 worth of dog food was stolen.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK15012659

Around 6:30 p.m. last night, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on Grand Avenue East near Taylor Avenue in Chatham.

Minor injuries were sustained. Total damage was estimated at $8000. A 19-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.
