The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 117 calls for service in the past 24 hours. Five people were arrested.

Police Execute Search Warrant CK15013428

Yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence on the north side of Chatham.

Approximately $600,000 worth of marihuana and psilocybin were seized for analysis.

A 44-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged with production of marihuana, possession for the purposes of trafficking and possession of psilocybin. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Fails to Provide Breath Sample CK15013510

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman following a traffic complaint.

Last night around 11:30 p.m. a concerned citizen reported to police that a woman under the influence of alcohol had just left the Westcourt Complex in a grey car with her two young children. An officer on general patrol observed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Dufferin Avenue. Through investigation, the officer suspected the woman had been drinking. She was given several opportunities to provide a suitable sample of her breath into an approved screening device, however she failed to comply.

The 32-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with failing to provide a breath sample. She was released with conditions pending a future court date of June 17, 2015. The children were picked up by family members.

Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK15013421

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for breaching his release conditions.

On April 13, 2015, the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to reside at a specific address in Dover Township.

Yesterday, police received information that it appeared the man was living out of his van in a parking lot on Park Avenue East in Chatham. Through investigation, officers learned that the man was not abiding by his residency condition. The 29-year-old Dover Township man has been charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
