Safe and Responsible Snowmobiling

The Chatham-Kent police would like to remind all those enjoying their snowmobiles as to where they can legally ride.

You may drive your registered snowmobile on your own property or private property where you have the owner’s permission. While you can ride on the road you must obey the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act (MSVA) speed limits when on roads. Riding on the sidewalk is dangerous and illegal. You could face a fine or criminal charge depending on the circumstances. Riding across fields or front lawns of homes where you do not have permission is trespassing and you may be charged. In these circumstances, you may also be doing damage to the crops or lawn.

Ride responsibly, ride respectfully, or don’t ride at all.
