The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 84 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Two people were arrested.
Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK15002807
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman wanted on an outstanding warrant.
On January 30, 2015 around 9:45 p.m. an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on King Street in Chatham. The driver, a 51-year-old Harwich Township woman was charged with using licence plates not authorized for the vehicle and two counts of driving while under suspension. Her vehicle was towed from the roadway and she was issued a court date of February 25, 2015 to answer to the charges.
The woman failed to attend Provincial Offences Court and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Last night, officers located the woman and she was taken into custody. She was released pending a future court date of April 29, 2015.
Man Charged with Being Intoxicated in a Public Place CK15009535
Around 12:30 a.m. this morning, officers responded to a disturbance in the common area of an apartment building on Grand Avenue East in Chatham. Officers located an uncooperative man who was intoxicated and unable to care for himself.
The 51-year-old Chatham man was taken into custody for his own safety.
He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and released when sober.
Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere CK15009521
Last night, officers conducted a RIDE spot check on Lacroix Street in Chatham.
A total of 75 motorists were stopped. Three tickets were issued, however no one was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
Traffic Enforcement
Yesterday, officers conducted radar enforcement across the Municipality.
Fifteen motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.
Fraud Warning CK15009470
Yesterday, an elderly Ridgetown woman contacted police to report that two unknown men attended her residence and offered to clean her eaves troughs. The woman allowed the men to do the work however when they attempted to convince her that the roof was leaking, she asked them to leave.
The men left the woman a bill for their work and said they would return for payment later in the day. The men were last seen driving a white truck with blue stripes and markings. They did not return to the woman’s home.
