Teens Charged with Multiple Offences CK15008208
Early this morning, shortly after midnight, the teens forced their way into a residence on Sandys Street in Chatham and stole a set of car keys. They located the vehicle to which the keys belonged to in the parking lot and drove away in the green Ford Windstar van.
Around 1:00 a.m. the teens attended a complex on Wedgewood Avenue and began checking for unlocked doors. A resident heard them try his door and called police. In the meantime, the teens entered a residence in the complex through an unlocked door and stole a wallet. The homeowner was awoken and found the teens inside her residence with flashlights. They immediately fled the scene on foot.
Officers flooded the area and located two of the three teens within minutes. Both had an odour of an alcoholic beverage on their breath and were found to be in possession of knives. The third teen was taken into custody approximately an hour later.
A 16-year-old Morpeth youth, 17-year-old Chatham youth and 18-year-old Morpeth teen have all been charged with:
– Break and enter x2
– Possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 x2
– Theft over $5000
– Possession of property obtained by a crime over $5000
– Trespassing by night
The 16-year-old Morpeth youth was additionally charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The 18-year-old Morpeth teen was additionally charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply x3.
All three have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Woman Charged with Driving While Under Suspension CK15008156
Around 3:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed a woman known to him driving a motor vehicle on Fargo Road near Blenheim. The officer initiated a traffic stop as he knew the woman was suspended from driving due to unpaid fines.
The 29-year-old Blenheim woman was charged with driving while under suspension. Her vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days.
Theft in Thamesville CK15008012
Sometime between Monday, March 23, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 7:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) smashed a window of a white GMC van parked on Lemuel Street, also known as Advantage Farm Equipment. The suspect(s) stole two battery converters, sockets, wrenches and ratchets from the vehicle. Total value of the theft was estimated at $2000.
